A thick, wholesome and versatile milkshake, brought to us by Gena Hamshaw of Choosing Raw. The certified nutritionist and self-confessed passionate vegan, is sharing this wholesome but sumptuous delight with us.
This is the kind of recipe you could munch on at anytime in the day. Gena advises that the milk can be mixed up — cashew, soy, whatever — as can a few of the ingredients, like adding a spoonful of peanut butter say.
It can easily be your breakfast or your dessert. Eat with cake, eat with fruit. Indulge!
Makes 4 small or 2 large servings
2 ripe medium or large bananas, peeled, chopped into pieces, and frozen
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 pitted medjool dates
1/4 cup almond butter
1 1/2 cups almond milk (soy or hemp milk will work well, too)
Blend all ingredients till smooth, adding a little more almond milk as needed. Serve.
